Photowalks

by

Our Photowalks group meets every Thursday 10.30 to 12 at Childcare and Community Centre, Hilton Street, WN4 8PD.

We go on walks locally and take pictures – which is great for everyone’s wellbeing.

We sometimes venture further afield. In June we had a trip to Liverpool Waterfront and Open Eye Gallery to see the Kinship exhibition. Joan, one of the attendees, particularly enjoyed ‘One Day Young’ – a group of portraits of mothers with their one-day old babies in Hackney by photographer Jenny Lewis.

Last week, we went to ‘The Fire Within’ – an exhibition by artists AL and AL (Al Holmes and Al Taylor). They have taken over empty units at The Galleries – the shopping centre in Wigan and filled them with art. Carefully curated, one of the rooms in particular, really captured John and Dave’s imagination. It was the room dedicated to George Orwell which had ghostly paintings by Theodore Major.
