Childcare

Overview

Welcome to our Hilton Street Childcare. We provide high standard childcare services for children as little as 8 weeks old to the age of 11. We we value the health and wellbeing of all our children. It has a happy and welcoming environment which promotes stimulation and helps build confidence of each child.

We follow the EYFS curriculum and provide age appropriate activities, experiences, learning equipment and toys.

Each child that attends our setting will have a key person allocated who will work closely with your child and complete their progress and educational records. You will be able to access your child’s records at any time.

To help your child settle in we offer some stay and play sessions usually the week before they are due to begin their time with us.

Staff

We have a strong team of practitioners with a wealth of knowledge between them and qualifications from degree level 6, foundation degree level 5 and NVQ levels 2-4.

We pride ourselves on having a very low turn over of staff which is very important for continuity of care for the children. All our practitioners are First Aid trained and we benefit from having a defibrillator on site which can be used by our community.

Communication to parents

We offer a range of communication methods to our families. The nursery has a website, a closed private Facebook page, OurSchoolsApp for your smart phone where you will receive notifications of news and events.

  • in our 0-2 room parents receive a daily record of their child’s day
  • our 2-3 room work in partnership with the local health visiting team and will host your child’s two year old joint assessment here at nursery for you to attend
  • in our 3-5’s room we send home a paper which tells you what the children are learning about and how you can support your child’s learning at home

Out of School Clubs

The Centre also provides out of school care for children aged 4-11 years attending ST Thomas’, St Oswalds, R L Hughes and Nicol Mere schools. Breakfast Club starts from 7am and After School Club runs up until 6pm. In the morning children are provided with breakfast cereals and toast and after school they have a home cooked meal.

Children are cared for in our hall on the first floor of the building which is separate to the nursery children. Thy can do homework in a dedicated room with the staff help and in a quiet environment. They also have IT equipment available when needed to help with homework and development.

Children can choose to relax with a book, watch a movie or play with the games consoles. There are also craft activities, construction, snooker, table-football and air hockey. Children can use laptops, board games or simply build a den and hang out with new friends. If the weather is fine the children can enjoy playground at the rear of the building.
