Whether your child is transitioning from our baby room or just beginning their journey with us in toddler room, we are well set up to help you little one achieve all that they need to aged 2-3 years.
Our large and spacious room caters for 32 children. The adult to child ratio is 1:4.
Highly Qualified Staff
Within this room the supervisor is Mrs Julie West who is a Level 6 Early Years Practitioner. Julie is supported by a team of fully qualified nursery nurses.
Within the room we usually start potty training with your child. It is your decision if you think they are ready. This is encouraged to be started at nursery at the same time as it is at home. A record of your child’s potty training progress will be monitored and sent home at the end of each day. At this time we ask that plenty of spare clothes are provided as accidents do happen.
The Little Hedgehogs room has easy access to the nursery’s toilet facilities and potties. The toilets and wash basins are at the correct height for children to promote independence in the bathroom.
Early Years Foundation
The Early Years Foundation Stage is also used within this room and planning is done to suit the needs and age ranges of the children. As always you will always be able to access your child’s progress and developmental records and all planning is displayed within the room for you to see.
Building on Social and Interaction Skills
Within Little Hedgehogs we continue to build on your child’s social and interaction skills and we usually notice that children communicate more with their peers. At all times sand, water and painting easels are all available for your child to access everyday. We find these activities promote all areas of development.
Hedgehogs now have access to their own Interactive White Board which offers lots of educational activities. This equipment supports group work, turn taking and hand-eye co-ordination to name a few.
Promoting Separate Areas of Development
As with all of the rooms, your child’s planning will be displayed within the room. Activities and equipment are changed regularly and promote each area of development.
