Leaflets and activities were issued by the HAF team: Holiday Activity and Food camps – HAF – Health & wellbeing activities – these were delivered by our staff approaching lunchtime. Classroom Kitchen – Making pasta pots
The children talked about healthy foods, fruit and vegetables and the differing fruits and vegetables that were going into their pasta pots. The children enjoyed eating their pasta pots at the end of the session.
On the day we had a number of children with dietary requirements and allergies which was explained to the healthy kitchen staff – their needs and allergies were fully catered for,
Boxing
The children really enjoyed this session, they were given the choice if they wished to participate. Feedback from tutor “I have to admit, it was one of the more challenging sessions for me (not because of behaviour) the kids were lovely, and staff were helpful. But we usually work with 7+ and have a dedicated space, so I was really pleased on the way home with how well it went, the kids engaged really well and I enjoyed working with them. Thank you for having us”. The children didn’t stop talking about the session the day after.
Plant Pots
The HAF team provided us with 25 Grow your Own kits. Children were each given a kit and during a session they were able to unbox the kit and set up the growing of seeds which will in time grow into vegetable plants. These seeds were sent home with instructions for the children and their families to nurture at home and a recipe idea of how they could make use of the vegetable once it grows. The children enjoyed having something they could take home.
French
The children learned four colours in French through games using coloured scarfs. The children enjoyed the games and activities, they played against each other and were eager to win and beat their peers.
The children then made fruit kebabs which they really enjoyed using the French colours of the different fruits.
The children really enjoyed eating their fruit kebabs at the end of the session. The French teacher had a good repour with the children and catered the session for the differing ages of the children.
Meals
All children received a hot meal, if they did not like the first option a second was available. Throughout sessions children have access to snacks and fruit, juice and yoghurts.
