28 January 2021The Co-operative Bank’s Customer Donation Fund supports Hilton Street Nursery, The Childcare and Community Centres.
The Co-operative Bank has given £1,000 to Hilton Street Nursery, a community group which offers childcare for 6 months to 11 years and numerous community support programs.
The donation from Co-operative Bank’s Customer Donation Fund will support the children’s Zen Den, which is a sensory area for all children.
Sue Benson CEO of the organisation, said:
This space and resources will allow current and many more children in the future to have a space where they are visually and mentally stimulated providing a calm but mesmerizing environment. Use of the stimulating equipment will allow children to expand their vocabulary with their peers and staff and encourage independence to equip young children to become school ready and improve life chances.
“We are ever more reliant on support from organisations such as The Co-operative Bank. This donation is a great boost to our fundraising.”

CCCAD aims to further or benefit without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or of political, religious or other opinions by associating together the said residents and the local authority, voluntary and other organisations in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure time occupation with the objective of improving the conditions of life for the residents.
The organisation has been operating in Ashton, in Makerfield for over 60 years as Ashton, Wigan & District YMCA and disaffiliated from YMCA England in March 2019 to emerge as a stand alone Charity named The Childcare and Community Centres, Ashton and District. The Organisation is an Incorporated Charity; registered both as a Charity and a Company limited by guarantee, whose Board is made up of volunteers

*The Co-operative Bank Customer Donation Fund is available to all Community Directplus account holders. The fund grows in relation to the deposits made, so for every £100 increase in collective deposits across Community Directplus accounts 20p is added to the fund and the Bank promises to distribute a minimum of £5,000 twice a year. Community Directplus account holders can apply for up to £1,000 from the Customer Donation Fund to support special projects and fundraising activities.
Since 2003 The Co-operative Bank has donated nearly £888,000 to 1021 organisations. Deadlines for applications are at the end of March and September every year. Donations range from £500 – £1,000 and applications are judged twice a year in April and October. If successful, the money is paid into the organisations Community Directplus account shortly after.
